In a remarkable homage to its roots, MV Agusta has released the Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata, commemorating eight decades since the birth of their first engine in 1943.
Domenico Agusta’s Vision for Mobility During WWII
Amidst the challenges brought by World War II in the early 1940s, Italy faced severe difficulties in daily life, especially when it came to transportation. With a scarcity of public transport, Domenico Agusta, who had taken the reins of the family business in 1927 after his father Giovanni’s passing, turned to motorcycles as a solution to simplify mobility and secure a future for himself and his employees at the Officine Aeronautiche Giovanni Agusta.
The MV Agusta 98cc Engine: A Symbol of Resilience
The first MV Agusta engine, a 98cc single-cylinder with a lubricated two-speed gearbox, was born in 1943. Despite its lightweight and compact design, production was halted during the occupation of the factory in September 1943. Only after the war ended, the complete motorcycle assembly resumed. The debut model, the MV 98, sported an elegant burgundy shade, a unique choice that added a touch of sophistication to a time marked by devastation.
The Rebirth of the “98” Signature
Fast forward to today, as MV Agusta rekindles the legacy of the “98” with the limited-edition Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata. This model, produced in a mere 300 numbered units, boasts the distinctive “Rosso Verghera” color scheme, directly inspired by the original palette. Applied by hand in multiple phases, the Rosso Verghera finish, developed exclusively for MV Agusta, reflects the brand’s commitment to quality and aesthetics.
Italian Craftsmanship and Heritage
The “98 Edizione Limitata” emblem adorns the tail section and upper part, flanked by the Italian flag, underlining the quintessential “Made in Italy” origins of every MV Agusta. The size of the historic engine and the limited-edition status are also proudly displayed on the steering plate through laser engraving technology and included on the certificate of authenticity provided with each motorcycle.
Elevated Racing Performance
MV Agusta’s racing heritage is paramount, and the Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata comes equipped with a dedicated racing kit. This kit includes the tail cover, a motorcycle cover, the certificate of authenticity, and two exclusive components: the Arrow triple-exit exhaust for track use and the dedicated racing ECU, optimizing performance of the powerful 798cc inline-three engine producing 147 horsepower.
Technical Excellence and Superior Equipment
The Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata boasts an array of high-performance components, including spoked wheels with a gold finish, an optimized and lightweight braking system with Brembo PR 16/19 radial master cylinder, and M4.30 Stylema front calipers. The recalibrated Continental MK100 ABS, Ride by Wire technology, a customizable 5.5” color TFT instrument panel, high-performance Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires, and the Mobisat anti-theft satellite positioning system further enhance the motorcycle’s technical prowess.

MV Agusta will release only 300 units of the Superveloce 98 Edizione Limitata, and many have already been reserved by the brand’s dedicated collectors.
