Leica Camera AG has announced the launch of the Leica M11 Monochrom, the fourth generation of its black-and-white sensor cameras. The Leica M Monochrom, first launched in 2012, was the only camera of its kind at the time and quickly became a favorite among photographers. The Leica M11 Monochrom builds on this success, providing a sensor that is completely geared towards black-and-white photography, allowing photographers to focus solely on the composition of pictures through light and shadow.
The camera features a monochrome multi-resolution full-format sensor that provides exceptional black-and-white images. It is capable of creating raw files in DNG format or JPEGs with a resolution of 60, 36, or 18 megapixels. Additionally, the camera offers an enormous ISO range of 125 to 200,000, which provides extreme creative freedom when taking pictures. The resulting images have an unprecedented rendition of even the finest details, exceptionally natural-looking definition, and extremely low noise even in the high ISO range.
The Leica M11 Monochrom also features 256 GB internal memory and convenient connectivity to the Leica FOTOS app, which ensures an optimal mobile workflow. Pictures can be quickly and easily transferred to the app via Bluetooth or the USB-C port and processed further from there. The camera can be directly controlled with the app, and photos can be immediately assessed at the smartphone or tablet thanks to tethered preview. Additionally, the camera is a certified Apple “Made for iPhone and iPad” accessory, which offers unique options with the included Leica FOTOS cable.
The Leica M11 Monochrom has an all-metal body and a top plate made of high-quality aluminum, with a sapphire glass display, solid leather covering, and black, scratch-resistant paint finish. The camera is designed with deliberate omissions, such as the Leica logo, and dark chrome-plated coating of the optical viewfinder, to underline the reduced, iconic design of the new addition to the legendary Leica M family.
The camera will be available globally at all Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorized dealers starting now. The recommended retail price is €9,450.00 including VAT.
