Grand Seiko Unveils Exclusive Hi-Beat 62GS Collection in Collaboration with Watches of Switzerland Group

In a celebratory nod to its iconic 1967 62GS model, Grand Seiko introduces a trio of stunning timepieces in partnership with the Watches of Switzerland Group. This latest release marks a significant milestone, embracing the legacy of the 62GS while infusing modern innovation and design.

The 62GS, revered for introducing automatic winding to Grand Seiko watches, has stood the test of time with its distinctive aesthetics. This year, the brand proudly presents three new hi-beat creations, comprising two limited edition watches and one special edition—all exclusively available through the Watches of Switzerland Group.

Nestled along the scenic Miyako Bay in Iwate Prefecture lies the awe-inspiring Jōdogahama Beach, acknowledged by the Japanese government as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty. Inspired by this natural wonder, the dials of these exclusive timepieces pay homage to the star-studded skies of Jōdogahama Beach. The SBGH333 features a dark-grey radiating mosaic pattern reminiscent of the starry heavens, while the cool blue accents evoke the moonlit waters and sky. Meanwhile, the SBGH335 and SBGH337 display vibrant greens and purples, capturing the dynamic cosmos above.

Crafted from stainless steel, each watch boasts a 40mm diameter, 12.5mm thickness, and 46.2mm length. Sporting a stainless-steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp, a box-shaped sapphire crystal, and a transparent case back, these timepieces embody the classic 62GS design. Notably, the bezel-free construction ensures a wide dial opening, accentuating the mirrored, multi-faceted case achieved through Grand Seiko’s renowned Zaratsu polishing technique—a mark of true refinement.

Powering these exclusive watches is the Hi-Beat 36000 Caliber 9S85, delivering a remarkable 55-hour power reserve, equipped with 37 jewels, and boasting an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day when static.

Available exclusively through the Watches of Switzerland Group network (Watches of Switzerland and Mayors) starting December 4th, each timepiece—the SBGH333 (grey dial, special edition), SBGH335 (green dial, limited to 200 examples), and SBGH337 (purple dial, limited to 200 examples)—will retail for $6,900.

Brice Le Troadec, President of Grand Seiko Corporation of America (GSA) and Global Strategy Officer at Seiko Watch Corporation expressed excitement about the collaboration: “Grand Seiko is thrilled to partner with Watches of Switzerland in releasing these three exclusive timepieces. The blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design reflects the essence of both brands. We are confident that these unique watches will captivate watch enthusiasts and Grand Seiko collectors alike.”

Echoing this sentiment, David Hurley, Deputy CEO of Watches of Switzerland Group, highlighted the exceptional quality of the timepieces: “The Grand Seiko Toge x WoS timepiece was the highest performing exclusive we’ve had from any brand partner. Given the strength of the three options presented by Grand Seiko, we decided to release all three. The mesmerizing and innovative dials are truly remarkable and must be seen to be fully appreciated. We eagerly anticipate delivering these distinctive and unexpected timepieces to our valued clients and collectors.”
