Two New Cameras From Sony to The Alpha 7C Series

In a leap forward for photography and videography enthusiasts, Sony Electronics has taken the wraps off two eagerly awaited additions to its Alpha 7C lineup: the Alpha 7C II (model ILCE-7CM2) and the Alpha 7C R (model ILCE-7CR). These innovative compact full-frame interchangeable lens cameras bring together cutting-edge technology and stunning performance, all packaged within a sleek and lightweight design.

Alpha 7C II: A Compact Marvel with Powerful Features

With around 33.0 effective megapixels on its full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor and the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine, the Alpha 7C II delivers remarkable still image and video capabilities across a wide array of scenarios, from travel escapades to everyday snapshots. What’s truly astounding is that all this performance fits into a diminutive frame measuring approximately 4.88 inches wide, 2.8 inches high, and 2.5 inches deep, weighing a mere 18.1 ounces. To put it in perspective, this camera is about 22% lighter and occupies about 45% less volume than the Alpha 7 IV.

This pocket-sized dynamo boasts ISO sensitivities ranging from 100 to 51200 (expandable to ISO 50 to 204800) for both images and videos, guaranteeing noise-free, high-sensitivity shots. And let’s not forget the icing on the cake: the Alpha 7C II shares the AI-processing unit and BIONZ XR processors found in Sony’s top-tier models, like the Alpha 7R V and Alpha 6700. This means real-time Recognition AF to accurately detect a diverse array of subjects and 5-axis in-body image stabilization that grants a 7.0-step advantage in stills photography.

Video performance is equally impressive, with both models supporting top-notch 4:2:2 10-bit video recording up to 4K60p. The acclaimed S-Cinetone color science from Sony enriches your cinematic endeavors, while features like AI-based auto-framing, digital-audio interface support, and Active Mode in-body image stabilization cater to your video shooting demands.

Alpha 7C R: A High-Resolution Powerhouse in a Compact Frame

This camera boasts an astonishing approximately 61.0 effective megapixels on its full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor, a mirror to the Alpha 7R V’s sensor. The BIONZ XR image processing engine ushers in high-resolution, high-definition imaging capabilities that were once thought to be confined to larger cameras. But Sony defies conventions yet again by enclosing this performance in a compact, lightweight body similar in size and weight to the Alpha 7C II.

Stunning still images and videos are at your fingertips, with a standard ISO sensitivity range from 100 to 32000 (expandable to ISO 50 to 102400). Pixel Shift Multi Shooting adds to the allure, capturing multiple images for creating ultra-high resolution masterpieces. The 7.0-step optical 5-axis in-body image stabilization corrects even the tiniest blurs, ensuring unparalleled clarity.

A partnership with the grip extension GP-X2, included with the Alpha 7C R, ensures comfort and stability during prolonged shoots or when using telephoto lenses. And let’s not forget the environmentally friendly design approach — recycled materials are used, and Sony’s Screen Reader function aids accessibility.

Shared Features for Unmatched Performance

Both the Alpha 7C II and Alpha 7C R models redefine compact size and high mobility, with dimensions around 4.88 inches wide, 2.8 inches high, and 2.5 inches deep, weighing just over 18 ounces. Their easy-to-handle structure supports an extensive E-mount lens series for versatile creativity in both images and videos.

The AI-processing unit in these models enhances subject recognition for optimal focus and tracking. Real-time Recognition AF now recognizes an array of subjects, including birds, insects, vehicles, and more, expanding your creative possibilities.

For video enthusiasts, the cameras deliver high-quality video data equivalent to 7K and 6K, respectively, outputting impressive 4K video with S-Log3 support for dynamic scenes. S-Cinetone provides cinematic allure without post-processing, while the Creative Look feature offers customization for your visual storytelling.

Operating these cameras is intuitive, thanks to touch-operable vari-angle LCD monitors and a range of user-friendly controls. Sony’s commitment to connectivity shines through, allowing remote camera operation, image transfer, and even cloud uploads via the Creators’ App.
