Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept

Ram Truck’s Ram 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept, introduced at CES 2023, is a glimpse into the future and demonstrates how the industry’s leading truck brand will once again redefine the pickup truck segment. The revolutionary truck features a load of innovative features that will be seen in Ram trucks going forward, including on Ram’s electrification journey.

Ram will differentiate itself by offering a portfolio of fully electrified solutions to better meet customer needs, including a segment-redefining Ram 1500 BEV in 2024. Ram will offer electrified solutions across its lineup, with disruptive, leading-edge technology in the years to come.

The innovative features of the vehicle are thoughtfully integrated and include a powered frunk with one-touch open-and-close functionality, a powered charge-port door on the driver’s side front quarter panel, a powered tailgate, flush-mounted door handles, powered side steps and a powered rear step with active diffuser.

The concept features side view mirrors that are smaller, more lightweight, and use 3-D printed materials for optimal aerodynamics. The mirrors use a digital camera to capture the truck’s surroundings, allowing for a smaller physical size.

The charge port blinks and illuminates when it is plugged in and charging begins. An audible sound signals charging has begun. Level 1 and 2 AC charging are indicated by the top half of the charger, while DC fast charging is indicated by the bottom half of the charger.

Recognizable Ram design cues include a power multifunction tailgate and a larger RamBox. The acute hourglass body design and fender wells clear 35-inch tires with a new unique design. Self-leveling capability is featured on the 1500 Revolution BEV concept, which rides on 24-inch wheels with center caps that light up and stay in place.

The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is based on the innovative STLA Frame EV platform, which allows for innovative new proportions. The cabin has been shifted forward along with the bed length, while a new intelligent safety system has allowed the design team to increase cabin length by four inches (10 cm).

A new architecture gives the interior more space and the battery size allows for more cargo volume, while “Ram Track,” Ram’s rail attachment/floor track system, provides cabin flexibility for seats and consoles as well as usable tie-downs or other storage potential. “Ram Track” is also incorporated in the frunk and bed for true flexibility from front to back.

The 1500 Revolution BEV Concept emphasizes seating and console flexibility. The center console can be removed for even more space. The center armrest is also removable and converts to a workstation surface when desired. Mid-gate and jump seat options offer multiple seating configurations. Lightweight seats feature integrated seatbelts, grab handles, and speakers with the ability to fold flat along with extended recline, work, conference modes, and deploying jump seats. Vastly more interior volume benefits second-row and third-row jump seat passengers who enjoy limo-like space.

The steering wheel is flat-top and bottom collapsible, with hand grips that offer capacitive controls. There are three digital displays on the steering wheel, a lit RAM badge, and tactile swiping technology for configuring the sun visors or electro-chromatic roof. The full glass roof has electro-chromatic panels and integrated roof rails that feature ambient lightning operated through the overhead console.

To emphasize its environmental friendliness, the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept features unique and resourceful materials throughout the interior. For example, it has a veneer made of “Greyslate Nanostone”—a resilient and lightweight material that is also used on high-end yachts. The concept has “Apple” leather, which is naturally animal-free and one of the bi-products of the apple industry. The floor is made of particles from recycled rubber and cork, which enhance durability and functionality.

The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept vehicle includes some unique technology features, including:

Vehicle Personal Assistant – An AI-powered virtual assistant that enhances the in-vehicle and exterior interaction with users. A 3D Ram avatar acts as the vehicle’s face, responding to various voice commands from users. Additionally, voice control enables the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept to follow commands from the owner while they’re outside the vehicle, such as closing the windows, playing music, take a picture, and “follow me” with Shadow Mode…

Shadow Mode – Automatic Following is a feature that enables a driverless truck to follow the driver walking in front of it. The driver can use this feature when he or she needs to move a short distance and doesn’t want to get back in the truck, such as when picking up tools or equipment from a job site. The truck will follow the driver at a safe distance, using sensors and camera technology to maneuver around obstacles. This innovation increases efficiency and makes jobs easier and more convenient.

My Day -Trip planning based on users’ preferences and schedules to suggest the best options at the right time and location.

Cabin Mode -The cabin modes are one-button settings that adjust multiple aspects of the cabin experience at once. They include options such as Productivity Mode, Social Mode, Party Mode, and Relax Mode. Adjustments include the interior lighting, seat position and orientation, window and skylight opacity, vehicle suspension, sound zones, and display content.

Advanced Augmented Reality (AR) Heads-up Display (HUD) –This feature combines augmented reality HUD (heads-up display) and advanced camera and sensor technology to provide enhanced driving assistance. See-through vision uses camera and sensor technology to create an experience that allows the driver to see objects outside of their normal view on the AR HUD. The AR HUD can also display information relevant to the car’s operation.

Intelligent Storage App – A mobile application that assists users in determining if they can transport an object with their vehicle. To measure an object, users can scan its barcode or utilize a built-in augmented reality camera to capture the object’s dimensions. The mobile app will then show users how best to position the object in their vehicle, and internal and external cabin projectors assist by displaying guides on where to place it.

Adjustable and Removable Lower Display – Can be used as a tablet, passenger display, or truck bed workstation. The two 14.2-inch displays can be combined to provide a larger viewing area.

Smart Home Control – Users can control their smart home devices from the infotainment screen, adjusting lights, cameras, thermostats, and sound systems.

Advanced Camera and Sensor System – The car’s multiple cameras and sensors enhance the driving experience by providing additional functions such as 3D capture, biometric identity recognition, and 360-degree photo and video capture.

Exterior Projector – The multiple built-in projectors are a highly efficient way to visually communicate information to the user. They also double as a mobile movie theater, allowing the owner to have movie night anytime, anywhere.

Autonomous Capabilities – In Level 3+ autonomous mode, the vehicle retracts the steering wheel to provide additional space for the driver. Interior lights, an augmented reality heads-up display (AR HUD), smart seats, and the steering wheel work together to provide next-level situational awareness to the driver.
