The Nike Ja 1 is a new basketball shoe designed for the next generation of players, as embodied by Nike Basketball’s first Gen Z signature athlete, Ja Morant. The shoe focuses on three key areas for optimal performance: dynamic lockdown, responsive ride, and support for landing.
The midfoot lockdown system offers a secure fit, enabling quick changes in direction during play. The forefoot Nike Air Zoom bag provides a quick, responsive sensation underfoot. The raised sidewall guardrail and raised cushioned foam collar with zonal cushioning offer additional support for takeoff and landing.
Morant was involved in the creative process, incorporating personal touches such as handwritten notes across the colorways to acknowledge his family, friends, and community. The designers also worked with Morant to create a signature light blue color that represents his blue-collar mentality.
At a starting price of $110, the Nike Ja 1 is the most affordable Nike Basketball Signature footwear option, making it accessible to all players and communities. The shoe will be available this spring on nike.com and at selected retailers.
