Certina DS Super PH1000M

In a resounding tribute to the enigmatic depths of the sea, Swiss watchmaker Certina has unveiled the DS SUPER PH1000M, a timepiece that pays homage to its rich aquatic legacy. The original DS SUPER PH1000M made its debut in 1970, causing ripples both above and below the water’s surface. Now, in a nod to that iconic model, Certina is launching not one, but two exciting variants: a limited edition of 1000 pieces boasting a vibrant orange dial, and an unlimited version in classic black. These remarkable wristwatches are powered by a cutting-edge automatic calibre with an impressive 80-hour power reserve and the innovative NivachronTM balance spring.

Vintage Charm Meets Contemporary Elegance

The new DS SUPER PH1000M draws inspiration from its 1970s predecessor, a groundbreaking timepiece that set the industry standard for waterproof watches. Back then, this horological marvel was used to great acclaim in the Tektite II program, where five fearless aquanauts resided on the ocean floor for up to four weeks, conducting research in their unique underwater habitat. The modern duo, carrying forward this legacy, not only captures the extreme water resistance but also pays homage to the timeless design of the era. The iconic fluted and unidirectional bezel with its black aluminum ring is as captivating now as it was back then.

A Distinctive Presence

The DS SUPER PH1000M boldly stands out in a sea of timepieces. Its stainless steel case boasts a gracefully curved barrel shape measuring 43.5 mm x 42 mm. Positioned at 9 o’clock is a helium outlet valve, a vital feature for professional divers. The fluted, raised design of the rotating bezel not only enhances its usability but also lends the watch a sense of depth and dimension. Wide indices and hands adorned with Super-LumiNova® coating ensure optimal legibility even in the darkest of waters. This watch is available in two exquisite versions: a limited edition with a captivating orange dial, limited to 1000 pieces, and a standard black variant featuring vibrant orange accents. Both options come with a choice of either a black rubber strap or a textile strap crafted from #tide ocean material®.

An Oceanic Marvel

The DS SUPER PH1000M is an intrepid timepiece with a penchant for conquering extreme depths, boasting a remarkable water resistance of up to 100 bar (1000 meters). Its mechanical Powermatic 80 caliber ensures unwavering precision. Automatic winding, an impressive 80-hour power reserve, and a magnetic field-resistant NivachronTM balance spring are just a few of its standout features, ensuring that this ambitious wristwatch is always prepared for any adventure, whether on land or beneath the waves.

A Stylish Adventure Companion

The new DS SUPER PH1000M not only serves as a trustworthy companion for explorers but also makes a bold style statement. It arrives in a special premium packaging and will be made available at official CERTINA retailers worldwide starting November 2023.
