Dutch luxury yacht builder, Zeelander Yachts, is set to showcase its latest creation, the Zeelander 5, at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, which is taking place between the 23rd and 26th of March 2023. The Zeelander 5 is the next step in the evolution of the Z44, which has been a popular model for the high-end yacht brand.
One of the key differences between the Z44 and the Zeelander 5 is the yacht’s updated design. While the classic Zeelander silhouette is still very much present, the shearline has been given a more voluptuous and elongated ‘S’ shape, which adds to the yacht’s contemporary look. Larger windows in the hull and wheelhouse allow for unobstructed 360-degree views, while the wheelhouse itself can be fully enclosed or opened up to allow in a refreshing breeze.
Founder and owner of Zeelander Yachts, Sietse Koopmans, stated that “the brand’s timeless aesthetic remains as appealing as ever, but we have had the opportunity to reimagine what that means.” This has resulted in a yacht that is just as recognizable as previous models, but with dozens of small improvements and a few bigger strides forward, offering improved functionality and a refined, timeless character.
Effortless boarding is provided by doors in the bulwarks, while a new sunpad on the foredeck and a larger bathing platform adds to the yacht’s overall appeal. The extra 4ft of hull length has allowed for a more spacious master cabin, which features a separate shower and head. Interior styling can be fully personalized or chosen from one of four carefully curated moodboards.
The Zeelander 5 is powered by three Volvo Penta IPS-650 drives, which allow for a maximum speed of 40 knots. The yacht is also 2dBA quieter than its predecessor, and owners have the option of installing a Seakeeper 6 gyro stabilizer for added comfort on the water.
Koopmans concluded by stating that “at the end of this repositioning process, we will have one exceptional product available in different sizes. Our yachts will be just as recognizable in one hundred years’ time as they are now – that is the true definition of a design icon.” It is clear that the Zeelander 5 is set to make a big splash in the luxury yacht market and is sure to impress at the upcoming Palm Beach International Boat Show.
