The Beosystem 72-22 Turntable

The Beosystem 72-22 is a limited-edition music system from Bang & Olufsen that bridges the gap between one of the brand’s famous designs from 1972 and today’s cutting-edge digital technology.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of their Beogram 4000 Series turntable, Bang & Olufsen is releasing a $45,000 limited-edition music system for the US and Canadian markets. The Beosystem 72-22 consists of a refurbished Beogram 4000 Series deck, matching Beolab 18 stereo speakers, and a Beoremote Halo control. The system, which will be limited to 30 units, allows users to mix and match the company’s characteristic vinyl sound with more modern speakers, all controlled by the Halo remote (or any smart device). Because the Beolab 18 speakers are wireless, you can stream music to them while you’re not spinning records.

Bang & Olufsen’s Recreated Classics Venture, which began in 2020 with the objective of “reversing the consumer electronics industry’s increasingly limited product lifespans and showcasing the longevity of Bang & Olufsen design,” has launched a new initiative. The result was the Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition, which was released in Europe and sold out “in days,” according to B&O, and now the business has expanded it to two additional markets by adding speakers and streaming capabilities for a more complete whole-system solution.

Each component is linked by a central hub housed in the system’s solid wood walnut gift box, which B&O recommends might be recycled as a turntable stand and record storage cabinet. The Beosystem 72-22 could be all the hi-fi you’ll ever need, with its walnut finish and new pearl-blasted Titanium Tone aluminum finish. For the most ardent Bang & Olufsen aficionados, it is unquestionably an opulent collector’s item. Each of the 30 Bang & Olufsen Beosystem 72-22 units will cost $45,000 and will be accessible throughout the United States and Canada (a particular launch date has yet to be established).
