TAG Heuer, the luxury watchmaker, has released a new addition to their iconic Carrera collection with the launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. This timepiece is inspired by the original 1963 Heuer Carrera, with a modern twist that captures the racing spirit of the legendary TAG Heuer Carrera. The new Carrera Chronograph boasts a fresh and dynamic styling that comes in two collections, both with 42-mm stainless steel cases. Customers can choose between the blue or black dial, both of which have vivid orange detailing that recalls classic race car speedometers.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house automatic chronograph Heuer 02 movement, making it a high-performance timepiece. The watch comes finished with high-end calfskin straps for a sleek and sophisticated look.
The original Heuer Carrera was created in 1963 by Jack Heuer, the company’s visionary CEO and great-grandson of its founder. Jack named the racing-inspired chronograph after a 1950s Mexican road race called the Carrera Panamericana, with the intention of appealing to professional drivers, sports car enthusiasts, and young watch buyers with ambition and a passion for style.
Over the last six decades, the iconic Heuer Carrera has become a symbol of aspiration, excellence, and style among sophisticated watch buyers. With the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, the company aims to perpetuate the classic form of the original design, featuring a simple round case, fluid integrated lugs, and ergonomic chronograph pump pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock. The beautifully balanced dial with a highly legible 3-6-9 subdial layout, quarter-of-a-second scale around the edge of the dial, and precise detailing harks back to the original 1960s design.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph comes with two dial options at launch. The signature blue and brooding black are both finished with a sunray-brushed finish, giving the watch an extra touch of elegance. The watch features a gradient orange ring that runs around the edge of the dial and links the applied hour markers. This punchy color scheme adds to the watch’s legibility and elevates its sporty posture.
The central chronograph seconds hand and subdial hands are in red, inspired by sports car dashboards. Lastly, the alternate indexes on the small seconds at 6 o’clock and the 10-minute/10-second markers on the flange are in fiery orange.
Both models come with high-quality calfskin leather straps in either blue or black to match the dial, fitted with a stainless-steel folding clasp. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph continues the story of an icon by perpetuating a classic form, celebrating the successes of the past, and embracing the future.
