The latest collaboration between Puma and designer Rhuigi Villaseñor is a cross-country project that brings together the cultures of New York City and Los Angeles. The inspiration for the new capsule is the diverse and vibrant communities that make up the five boroughs of New York City.
The aesthetic of college athletics and Americana are at the center of the second part of the capsule, which includes a Varsity Jacket, Double-Layered Hoodie, and a new design for the Puma Slipstream. The collection features “New York Worldwide” graphics on the clothing, paying homage to the city’s music, style, and culture, with a green and cream color scheme that creates a vintage feel.
The editorial campaign for the Puma x Rhuigi collection features Kia Patrón, Tyliv Bonaparte, and Frank Giordano, owner of Lenny’s Pizza, in a celebration of the shared experience of eating pizza in New York. The photoshoot takes place at Lenny’s Pizza, a beloved family-owned pizzeria.
Rhuigi Villaseñor is the founder of RHUDE, a clothing label that combines American iconography with nostalgic cultural references, creating a unique reflection of Los Angeles. The new Puma x Rhuigi capsule will be available on February 18, 2023, from Puma’s website, Puma stores, and select retailers worldwide.
