The KAWHI III Alpha Predator colorway was unveiled on Thursday, February 2nd, as Kawhi took to the court with the Los Angeles Clippers against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The development of the KAWHI III was guided by three key insights from Kawhi himself: responsiveness, explosiveness, and lightweight design. These insights were used to bring Kawhi’s unique playing style to life in the form of a streamlined, lightweight shoe with full-length FuelCell cushioning. The Alpha Predator colorway takes inspiration from Kawhi’s dominance on the court, resembling the power and fearlessness of an apex predator.
The FuelCell cushioning system and Energy Arc technology in the KAWHI III have been developed by New Balance’s state-of-the-art Sports Research Lab. This technology combines a carbon fiber plate and strategic midsole voids to increase the stored energy and provide a higher amount of energy return, making it a top-performing shoe for athletes. This is the first time that Energy Arc technology will be featured in a basketball shoe.
The minimalist upper of the KAWHI III is made of a combination of lightweight textile and rich synthetic material, with a seamless half-bootie that connects directly to the tongue for a comfortable and secure fit. The molded adapt component at the heel also provides a stable and locked-in fit.
The KAWHI III Alpha Predator will be available for purchase starting February 10th on the New Balance website, with a suggested retail price of $160. Throughout the season, additional colorways inspired by Kawhi’s unique perspective, including Recharged Chakra, Multi-Dimensional, Sacred Geometry, and even one that draws on New Balance’s iconic color, will be released.
