Man Utd x Originals Collection

In a joint venture celebrating the revered terrace wear of the late 80s and early 90s, Manchester United and adidas have announced the launch of the Man Utd x Originals Collection. This exciting collaboration revisits popular pieces from adidas’ archive, reimagining them for contemporary football culture.

Designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia, the collection aims to capture the spirit of the ‘away day’ and pay tribute to the unwavering devotion of fans who followed the team during the memorable 1988-1990 seasons. The nine-piece collection introduces a fresh interpretation of iconic legacy items, accompanied by several commemorative apparel releases, including a hoodie, t-shirts, and a bench jacket.

At the forefront of the collection is the Man Utd x Originals Third jersey, serving as the hero piece. Adorned with intricate details, this jersey draws inspiration from the legendary kit of that era. It features an engineered “MUFC” jacquard material and a meticulously crafted ribbed collar with red and black accents along the edges. The jersey also showcases raised adidas Trefoil branding, the club’s crest, and the iconic sponsor logos of the time, employing a soft textured material applied onto the core fabric. Completing the kit, the matching shorts display the ‘MUFC’ script on the side and are made from a woven fabric, replicating the authentic look and feel of the originals worn decades ago.

In an exciting development, an animated version of Lisandro Martinez, Manchester United defender, will grace the cover of this month’s United We Stand fanzine, proudly sporting the new Man Utd x Originals third jersey.

The collection further includes the Man Utd x Bench Jacket, which draws inspiration from the manager’s touchline attire but has been reimagined as a modern shell jacket. Additionally, a redesigned version of the off-pitch hoodie worn by players is available, featuring a striking red, white, and black color scheme, paying homage to the original pieces.

The Man Utd x Originals Collection presents a fusion of heritage and contemporary design, allowing fans to embrace the nostalgia of a bygone era while embracing the style and spirit of modern football culture.
