Folded Record Bureau

Folded Record Bureau

The ‘Folded Record Bureau’ is a low bureau normal from a band of folded pure timber, fastidiously crafted to present the impression of a single plank, folded to accommodate record storage. Created by brothers Hugh and Howard Miller of design and making studio H Miller Bros, the ‘Folded Record Bureau’ is out there in a variety of finishes, together with birch-ply veneered white ash, oak, iroko, and black walnut. The usual turntable is a specifically modified model from Fluance, set seamlessly into the highest surface of the bureau. The example proven incorporates a Bang & Olufsen Beogram 5000 turntable with stable iroko end.

The price of the product starts from 2000 pounds. Here you can see detailed information.

About Hugh Miller:

The studio was founded by Hugh Miller, an award-winning designer and maker, with a preternatural affinity for wood.

Hugh started making furniture at the age of 15, but his formal training was in architecture. For Hugh, the office-based career of an architect felt removed from the physical materials of his designs. So, after completing his Masters in Architecture, he founded Hugh Miller Furniture, where the disciplines of designing and making could be combined into a single, intuitive, crafted process.

The influence of Hugh’s architectural education can still be seen throughout our studio’s output. We see furniture as small pieces of architecture, where the concept is embedded in the intricacy of the detail. Furniture and architecture are the same thing – they just inhabit different scales.

Hugh is heavily influenced by his time researching in Japan as a Winston Churchill Memorial Fellow. This transformative experience led him to develop a set of design principles, inspired by Japanese applied arts philosophy, that now underpin our studio.

Hugh’s research in Japan resulted in a book titled Japanese Wood Craftsmanship, and he has lectured widely on the subjects of Japanese design, architecture, and furniture. Hugh is a visiting lecturer at Osaka Institute of Technology in Japan, and timber design tutor at Newcastle University School of Architecture.

Hugh also designs for established luxury brands. Recent collaborations include a coffee table and side table for Benchmark Furniture, two ArtSuite bedrooms for the IceHotel in Sweden, and a special edition gift box for Savoir Beds.
